Who are Scouts?
Scouts are a go-getting group of young people, aged 10 1⁄2 to 14, who:
- Master new skills and try new things
- Have fun and go on adventures, at home and abroad
- Make a difference in their communities and beyond
Scouts meet weekly in Scout Troops. Through a balanced programme, Scouts explore the world, their abilities and beliefs, and develop their creativity. Being outdoors is really important and Scouts learn lots of new skills, such as camping, survival, cooking as well as a wide range of adventurous activities, from abseiling to yachting.
Scouts in Stevenage
Most of our Scout Groups run Scout Troops (the Scout section). We are fortunate in Stevenage to have easy access to safe, outdoor spaces for hikes and camps.
You don’t have to have been a member of Scouting from young to join the Scouts. Scouts aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills. It offers them the independence to put skills into practice at camps and even on international trips. Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community work to planning activities for their meetings.
