Who are Explorers?
Explorers are a go-getting group of young people aged 14 to 18.
Week in and week out, they gather in groups called Units to try new things, make new friends and conquer the small task of changing the world. They get up to a lot of action and adventure. Along the way, they have lots of fun, gain skills for life, and help others and their communities.
Stevenage Explorer Scout Unit (ESU)
In Stevenage, Explorers are run directly by the District and not by individual Scout Groups. Some Explorers may be attached to a Scout Group when they take part in the Explorer Scout Young Leaders’ Scheme (find out more), volunteering alongside adult leaders to develop valuable leadership skills.
Explorers get to work towards Top Awards like the King’s Scout (once you’ve reached 16 years of age) and Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. You’ll get to meet other Explorers across Hertfordshire County or even around the UK. By doing this, you will get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones the District organises.
