Stevenage District and our Groups are working towards Transformation and a new volunteer experience
Across the UK, changes are being made to make Scouting easier, more enjoyable and rewarding. Transformation is not just about changing processes but about building a new volunteering culture thatโs inclusive, supportive, digitally enabled, has clear roles, focuses on relevant learning, and is welcoming to new volunteers.
It wonโt affect the delivery of Scouting adventure to our young members, but it will affect the way that we think about our organisation, the description of roles and changes to the structure of our District and Group leadership.
Learn more about the new volunteering experience on The Scout Association’s website.
Whilst we’re re-organising ourselves to better serve the District, here are some key people to know:

Why not join us?
You don’t need any special skills, experience, or even a lot of time. If you can spare just an hour a week or a month, you too can make a difference to the lives and development of young people.
There’s a reason why 140,000 volunteers across the UK hop in week after week, year after year. It’s rewarding, it’s fun, it builds Skills for Life.
Trustee Board
The Trustee Board is a team of volunteer charity trustees to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance.
Scout Group Lead Volunteers
Each of our Scout Groups is led by a Group Lead Volunteer, previously known as Group Scout Leader. They and their teams of volunteers are our everyday heroes!
Scouting Structure
Across the UK, weโre proud to be a single family of Scouts, arranged in different groups and units across our regions and nations. The Scout Group is the basic unit of organisation, based in a local community. Multiple Groups make up a District, and so on… find out more about how it all fits together.
