Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) for Scout Section
Saturday 18th October 2025
District Scout HQ, Magpie Crescent, Poplars.
Scouts, are you interested in making radio contact with Scouts from around the UK, and the world for that matter? Maybe you would like to build you own LED safety light (ideal for night hikes)? If the answer is yes, then this event is for you.
There will be two activities and you can sign up for either or both:
10:00 to 12:30pm Build an LED safety light. A simple electronics project, all parts supplied and you take the LED safety light home (£15 per Scout).
1:00 to 3:30pm Communicating with Scouts on the radio with the option to work towards the Scout Communicator Activity Badge. (£3 per Scout).
The building an LED safety light session will cost £15.00 per Scout, this covers the cost of all components and a battery, and you will be able to take the completed project home. This must be booked and payment received by Monday 6th October latest, as components need to be ordered.
The radio communications session in the afternoon costs £3. There will be an opportunity to talk to Scouts from around the UK and Europe using Amateur Radio. You will also be able to work towards the Scout Communicator Activity Badge if you wish.
Drinks and biscuits will be provided during the day and please wear your Scout uniform. If you are attending both sessions, then please bring a packed lunch.
To book a place, please complete the online form and give your payment to your Scout Leader or drop in to the District Scout shop at Poplars on Monday evenings between 7:30pm and 8:30pm. Please place in an envelope with your name and JOTA 2025 clearly written.
