Scout About Challenge
District Activity Centre - The Canyon
Latest Update - Monday16th March 2020
CANCELLED
As you know the Government, following advice from Public Health England are placing various restrictions due to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19). We have been monitoring this advice carefully along with the guidance from the Scout Association.
Following the Government update on Monday 16th March, advising, amongst other measures, that it is time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and to stop unnecessary travel; the decision has been taken to suspend all Scout events and meetings from Tuesday 17th March 2020 until further notice. As such we have to cancel the Scout About Challenge on Saturday 21st March 2020.
All participants will receive a full refund from their Scout Leader in due course. It is most likely that this event will now be run next year in March 2021.

A relatively new event for the District Scout calendar alternating with the Around Town Challenge, this is a fun six hours of non-competitive, Scout-craft activities, including; archery, a wood-work project to build a useful item for Patrol camping, survival skills and geocaching (treasure hunt using a GPS receiver). Patrols/teams of between 4 and 7 Scouts can enter and take part in all the above activities and each Patrol will be able to take away the items they make for use at Scouts and on camps (ideal for Colonel Woods!)
Patrols check-in at 9:30am, ready to start activities at 10am. Each activity base will last an hour. The wood-work project is spread over three one hour bases, where as the other activities last an hour each. All the activities will be based in the grounds of the Canyon, except for the Geocaching where we will venture in to the grounds of Fairlands Valley Park.
