Stevenage District Scout Council


Due to Covid-19, Stevenage Scouting is following the advice of The Scout Association.

Currently, the Scout Association has announced that Scouting is operating at the 'Amber' level.

This means that small groups are permitted to take part in activities outdoors whilst meeting several conditions.

Indoor activities are only permitted to take place following specific guidelines and approval.

No overnight residential activitives are permitted to take place.

Online meetings, activities and events are still being organised by some groups and sections within Stevenage.

Our buildings at Poplars and Canyon will be open from 1st August for external hirers following strict Covid-19 Secure guidelines.


Poplars is the Stevenage District Scouts Headquarters.  It is mainly used for district activities and events for both our yougn and adult members - such as activities days and training events.  

The main building has a large hall, which can be split into 2 halls (approx 1/3 and 2/3 of large hall). The main hall can accomodate up to 120 people.

There is a main kitchen accesible from the larger end of the main hall, and a smaller kitchen area available in the smaller end of the main hall.  The main kitchen is equipped with a 5ring cooker with a large oven, dishwasher, fridge and microwave.  It is equipped to cater for approx 40 people.

The building comes complete with WiFi and a projector and screen (in the larger end of the main hall)

There is large grassed area (including a nature pond) to the rear of building that can be used for activities and camping.

There is planty of parking in the adjacent Sainsburys car park.

Poplars is available to hire on a hourly rate - Weekdays - £15/hour, Weekends - £20/hour  (Min booking of 3 hours)
